Troops eliminate 2 terrorists in Taraba, recover weapons

Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, part of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), successfully neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered weapons during an operation in Taraba State.

According to reports, the troops, while acting on credible intelligence moved swiftly on April 14, 2025, to intercept suspected bandits between Mayokan and Bondogri villages in Bali Local Government Area.

A fierce gunfight ensued when the soldiers engaged the bandits in the vicinity of Garbatau, Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri, and Mayokan villages, resulting in the death of two terrorists, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Among the items recovered were an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, ammunition, a single-barrel Dane gun, arrows, and cutlasses.

In a separate operation the same day, troops conducted a clearance patrol in Ibi Local Government Area, targeting a bandits’ hideout in Yamiri Village. The criminals fled, leaving behind a military uniform and a Bible. The troops destroyed the camp to prevent the bandits from re-establishing their base.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and emphasised the military’s dedication to making Taraba State safe.

He also encouraged the public to continue providing vital intelligence to security agencies to aid military operations.
