Troops neutralise 6 bandits in Kaduna, recover weapons

In a decisive operation against banditry, Nigerian Army troops successfully neutralised six bandits in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This operation marks another significant victory for security forces combating terrorism in the North-Western region.

According to Samuel Aruwan, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, troops from Sector 4 of Operation Whirl Punch and the 198 Special Forces Battalion executed the clearance operations based on precise intelligence regarding bandit activities.

“The mission began with the troops clearing known bandit hot spots in several villages, including Maidaro, Ngade Alha, Dogon Dawa, Damari, Saulawa, Farin Ruwa, Maganda, Sabon Layi, and Kampanin Doka”.

Upon arriving at Saulawa, the troops encountered and engaged the bandits, resulting in the immediate neutralization of two criminals and the recovery of a motorcycle and a Baofeng radio set.

The troops seized a cache of weapons, including one GPMG, two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, one FN rifle magazine, 22 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 51 rounds of 7.62 special ammunition, and a motorcycle.

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, praised the troops and the leadership of Major General Marenyiso Saraso, Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch and General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army’s One Division, for this notable success.

“He highlighted the importance of efficient collaboration and coordination among the forces and reiterated the government’s support in the ongoing fight against banditry”!.
