Troops rescue 4 kidnapped Chinese nationals, 21 others
In a sustained crackdown on banditry and kidnapping across Kwara and neighbouring states, troops of the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, have rescued 21 kidnapped victims.
The successful operation, conducted on October 17, 2025, involved coordinated efforts by troops of the 12 Brigade Lokoja and 22 Armoured Brigade Ilorin. The rescued victims comprised 14 males, five females, one infant, and four Chinese nationals who were abducted from various locations in Kwara and Kogi States.

According to the Army, intensified military offensives forced the bandits to release their captives, some of whom had been held for over four months.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Commander Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General C. R. Nnebeife, who coordinated the operations, ensured that the victims received first aid and relief materials to aid their recovery from the trauma suffered in captivity.
Major General Nnebeife sympathised with the victims and reaffirmed the Army’s determination to sustain the ongoing offensive until all criminal elements are neutralised, stressing that there would be no hiding place for bandits within the Division’s area of responsibility.

The rescued individuals were immediately evacuated to a military medical facility for treatment. Many, weakened by months of captivity, are reportedly responding well and will be reunited with their families after full recovery.
The GOC also expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for its consistent air support and commended other security agencies for their collaboration in addressing security challenges in the region. He further praised the troops for their dedication and directed the brigades to maintain the momentum in restoring peace and stability across Kwara, Kogi, and neighbouring states.
