Troops Rescue 86, Arrest 29 in Borno Operation

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Joint Task Force North East, have achieved another breakthrough in the fight against insurgency in Borno State, rescuing 86 kidnapped victims and arresting 29 individuals accused of supplying logistics to terrorists.

The Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, disclosed this in a statement, noting that troops of the 135 Special Forces Battalion under Sector 2 OPHK engaged Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists on November 9, 2025, at Dutse Kura along the Buratai–Kamuya Road.

According to Uba, the troops intercepted the terrorists while they were abducting civilians and vehicles, swiftly repelled the attack, and pursued the insurgents toward Mangari. The soldiers overpowered the fleeing terrorists near a makeshift camp, rescuing 86 kidnapped men, women, and children.

Items recovered included one AK-47 rifle, five magazines containing 73 rounds of ammunition, four PKT ammunition belts, five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles. The terrorist camp was subsequently destroyed during the clearance operation.

In a separate operation, troops stationed at Mangada arrested 29 suspected terrorist logistics suppliers heading to Chilaria. Recovered from them were two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), approximately 1,000 litres of petrol, four gallons of engine oil, two new gun truck tyres, medical supplies, and large quantities of food items.

Lieutenant Colonel Uba confirmed that all operations were completed successfully without any troop casualties. The Military High Command commended the soldiers for their gallantry and professionalism, urging them to sustain efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action across the North East.
