Two Chibok schoolgirls escape Boko Haram’s captivity in Borno
Two more Chibok School girls have escaped from the captivity of Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
A security source, who identified the two girls as Hauwa Mutah and Esther Markus, said their escape was facilitated by the intense military operation in the area.
“One is from Chibok and the other one from Dzilang village,” the source said.

Earlier, the head of the Intelligence Unit of the Joint Military Task Force, Operation Hadinkai, Colonel Obinna Ezuipke, had put the number of the remaining Chibok girls in captivity at 98.
“Out of the 276 abducted Chibok girls, 57 girls escaped in 2014 while 107 girls were released in 2018. Three girls were recovered in 2019, two in 2021 and 9 were rescued in 2022, bringing the total of 178 girls out of captivity and 98 remaining in Boko Haram captivity,” Ezuipke said.
Recalled that Boko Haram terrorists attacked the Government Girls Secondary School Chibok in Borno State on 14th April 2014 and abducted 276 female students between the ages of 16 and 18.
With the escape of the two girls and others in previous years, the number of Chibok schoolgirls still in captivity has now reduced from 98 to 96.
