Two suspects arrested as police dismantle Cameroonian human trafficking syndicate

The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled a Cameroonian human trafficking syndicate notorious for luring and abducting victims under the pretext of visa processing.
According to the command, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit carried out a successful raid on the group’s hideout located in Mowe, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leading to the arrest of two suspects identified as Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen. The alleged mastermind, simply identified as Donald, is currently on the run.
Preliminary investigations revealed that relatives of the victims in Cameroon had already paid a ransom of 3.6 million CFA francs into the account of the fleeing suspect.

In a statement released on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the operation followed a distress call received from a Cameroonian national, Kengne Maeva, who reported being deceived and trafficked into Nigeria.
Odutola explained that Maeva had been lured from Cameroon on 29th September 2025 by the principal suspect, Donald, who posed as a travel agent offering to facilitate a Canadian visa. Upon her arrival at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, she was received by members of the syndicate and transported to Mowe, Ogun State, where she and her 23-year-old sister were held captive.
“On 3rd November 2025, the complainant managed to escape and promptly alerted the police, revealing that several other victims were still being held in a two-bedroom apartment in the Pakuro area of Ogun State,” Odutola stated.

Following the report, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an operation, rescuing the victim unharmed and arresting two suspects at the scene. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing ringleader.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed intensified surveillance across the state and ordered tactical commanders to collaborate with community leaders and Community Development Association (CDA) chairmen, especially in remote areas, to immediately report suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and warned that criminal networks will find no refuge in Ogun State.
