Wheelbarrow pusher kills tax collector over N50 fee, kills self

In a tragic turn of events in Benin City, Edo State, a wheelbarrow pusher took the life of a tax collector over a dispute regarding a daily N50 ticket.

The incident occurred on Mission Road in the Oredo Local Government Area, sparking panic and commotion in the area as shop owners closed their shops and residents fled the scene.

The argument between the wheelbarrow pusher and the tax collector began over the collection of the N50 tickets, which led to an escalation that resulted in the wheelbarrow pusher pulling out a knife and stabbing the tax collector to death.

Realizing the gravity of his actions, the wheelbarrow pusher then took his own life by stabbing himself in the neck.

The incident has sparked a debate about the role of tax collectors in Nigeria, with some arguing that they can be aggressive and demanding, while others believe that they are essential for the government to collect revenue.

Police and other security personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area. The bodies of the wheelbarrow pusher and the tax collector were taken to the morgue.

The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
