Why I hanged my 75-year-old relative after killing him – Suspect

Ozioma Orakwe, the alleged killer of a 75-year-old Mr Martin Orakwe has confessed that the she hung the man after killing so that others would believe he committed suicide.

Orakwe said this while responding to journalists after her arrest.

According to reports, Orakwe who is 27-year-old from Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra, confessed to have killed late Mr Martin after they had a little misunderstanding.

The death of Mr Martin occurred after it was reported that he committed suicide but following investigations by the security operatives it was revealed that he was killed.

While the suspect was paraded by the state police command, she confessed to the crime and blamed the devil for her actions.

She said, “The deceased and I had a little misunderstanding which later resulted to fight. I was angry and didn’t know when I hit him with a glass cup in my hand.

“Unfortunately, he lost his life in the process. I was afraid people would judge me for killing the old man that was why I decided to hang him and pretend as if he committed suicide.”

The state police command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Toochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident disclosed that the suspect would be charged to court when the investigation is concluded.
