Boko Haram insurgency to end – Gov. Zulum

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has alleged that some individuals and groups benefiting from the Boko Haram insurgency are deliberately prolonging the crisis for personal gain.
The Boko Haram insurgency, which has plagued Borno and other northeastern states for years, has led to the deaths of thousands and the displacement of countless others.
Although military operations have significantly weakened the terrorist group in recent years, the fight against Boko Haram remains unresolved.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Governor Zulum expressed concern over the activities of individuals profiting from the conflict, both within the Northeast region and across the border in Chad.
He stated, “There are people who don’t want this insecurity to end because they will not be happy with that.”
Governor Zulum acknowledged the progress made in combating Boko Haram but lamented that some members of the group have begun returning to the region after being expelled from Chad.

He urged citizens to unite and support security agencies in addressing the menace, emphasising the need for collective action to end the insurgency.
The governor, however, refrained from naming the individuals or groups he believes are benefiting from the ongoing insecurity in the region.
