Wike loses polling unit to APP

Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has encountered another political setback. During the ongoing local government elections, he lost his polling unit in the Obia-Akpor local government area to the All Peoples Party (APP). Voting continues in areas experiencing late arrival of election materials, with significant turnout reported.

Protests erupted as PDP supporters called for election cancellation, while a larger counter-protest by state government supporters supported the electoral process.
