Wike sacks FCT-IRS acting chairman, orders senior official to take over immediately
Story by Susan Mbamah
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has removed the Acting Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, with immediate effect.
The announcement was made on Friday through a statement issued by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka. According to the statement, the most senior official within the agency has been directed to immediately assume leadership of the FCT IRS.
No reason was provided for Ango’s sudden removal as of the time of filing this report.
Ango, who was appointed in August 2024, had recently been commended by staff of the agency for what they described as exemplary leadership. His exit comes amid ongoing restructuring within key revenue generating institutions under the FCT Administration.
