Woman arraigned for grabbing man’s private part during altercation

A 53-year-old woman, Igboh Mary, has been charged in the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for allegedly slapping a man and grabbing his private part during a brawl over an undisclosed matter in Lagos.

The man, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, was promptly hospitalized following the incident, which occurred at the Tennis Club on NNPC Road in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.

According to the police, Igboh Mary was charged for damaging several canopies, tables, and chairs during the altercation before being reported to the Ejigbo Division of the Lagos Police Command.

The charge read: “That you, Igboh Mary, on November 5, 2024, at about 7:00 p.m., at No. 2/4 Tennis Club, NNPC Road, Ejigbo, Lagos State, within the Lagos Magisterial District, unlawfully assaulted one Emmanuel Chukwuemeka by slapping his face multiple times and grabbing his private part, thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

Count II: “That you, Igboh Mary, on the same date, time, and location, within the aforementioned Magisterial District, maliciously damaged a canopy, plastic chair, and table valued at N47,000 (Forty-Seven Thousand Naira), the property of Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, thereby committing an offense punishable under Section 339(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

Mary pleaded not guilty to the charges. She was granted bail in the sum of N150,000 with one surety and remanded in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the perfection of her bail. The case was adjourned to December 9, 2024.
