A 57-year-old woman has tragically died after becoming entangled in a conveyor belt system at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. The incident occurred in one of the airport’s non-public baggage rooms.

According to Larry Langford, spokesperson for the Chicago Fire Department, the woman was found unresponsive and pinned to the machinery used to move baggage. The accident occurred early in the morning, around 7:30 a.m. local time, in Terminal 5, which handles international flights.

Surveillance footage revealed that the woman had entered the restricted area at approximately 2:30 a.m. The area was not classified as high-security, and her presence there did not constitute a security breach. The woman was not an airport employee, and her identity has not been disclosed.

Chicago police are currently conducting a death investigation, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
