On Tuesday, the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) sealed up the entrance of the Yobe State House of Assembly Complex in Damaturu.
In response to the federal government non-implementation of the Financial Autonomy act of 2018 and Presidential Order 10, 2020, PASAN with the directives from their National Executives embarked on indefinite strike action.
The Chairman of PASAN, Yobe State Chapter, Comrade Zanna Ali, while speaking to DAILY INDEPENDENT said: “We took this action because we want the federal government to implement the financial autonomy. We joined the strike because it is a nationwide strike, we want our demands met, the financial autonomy is constitutional.
“This is all that we want; it’s almost two years now the President assented to the Bill and we are yet to see anything. There will be no sitting today because we locked the legislative entrance, there’s no sitting today.”
“We took the step after exhausting all attempts aimed at asking for the implementation of the financial autonomy by the federal government after 21 days, 14 days and seven days ultimatum, the Union added.
“At this juncture, the Union has no other option than to direct our members to embark on an indefinite strike.
