Zamfara lawmaker attacked by residents over alleged neglect

Residents of Dansadau town in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State on Wednesday reportedly confronted a member of the State House of Assembly, accusing him of neglect and ineffective representation.
The lawmaker, Kabiru Mikailu, who represents Maru South Constituency, was said to have been attacked by angry youths while accompanying Governor Dauda Lawal during an official visit to the community.
According to residents, the legislator has been largely absent from the area since his election. They alleged that he failed to engage with constituents, skipped important events such as Sallah celebrations, and did not visit families affected by repeated bandit attacks to sympathize with them.
Security operatives were reported to have intervened swiftly to restore calm and prevent the situation from escalating.

Governor Dauda Lawal was in Dansadau to flag off the reconstruction of the more than 90-kilometre Dansadau–Gusau road, a key project expected to improve access and economic activities in the area.
During the visit, the governor also ordered the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the town’s General Hospital and approved the provision of solar-powered electricity to improve living conditions.
The governor assured residents of his administration’s commitment to restoring security, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and improving the welfare of communities affected by insecurity across Zamfara State.
He was also honoured with the chieftaincy title of Garkuwan Dansadau and turbaned by the Emir of Dansadau, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, Sarkin Kudu Dansadau.
