15-year-old escapes kidnappers, police seek help to reunite him with family
The Anambra State Police Command is appealing to the public to assist in reuniting 15-year-old Chibuike Damian Onyebuchi with his family after he escaped from his abductors.
Onyebuchi, who hails from Ihiala Local Government Area, was reportedly kidnapped in Onitsha and later found in Kogi State.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the boy is currently in safe custody with the police in Kogi.
“We call on residents of Onitsha, Ihiala, and the general public to help identify Master Chibuike Damian Onyebuchi. He was abducted in Onitsha and recently found in Kogi State,” Ikenga said.
During his interview with the police, Onyebuchi narrated that he was taken to an unknown location before managing to escape. The police have shared his photo and are seeking widespread dissemination to identify his family.

The command urged anyone with information to assist in reuniting the teenager with his parents.
“This is a plea for assistance in identifying this young boy so he can return to his loved ones,” Ikenga added.
The incident has drawn mixed reactions from the public, with some questioning why Onyebuchi could not identify his own family home.
Simon Adabanya, a resident, commented, “Are you telling us that a 15-year-old cannot locate his place in the village?”
The police continue to assure the public that Onyebuchi is in safe hands as efforts to locate his family intensify.
