Army officers surround Nnamdi Kanu's residence, ransack NUJ Secretariat in Abia state

Soldiers have been reported to have surrounded the Afaraukwu country home of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
A report by PUNCH said the Nigerian Army returned to Kanu’s Afaraukwu country home on Tuesday with about 10 Armoured Carrier Vehicles and seven Hilux vans, with the development forcing shop owners in the area to close immediately.
On Monday, the army clashed with some residences in Aba after they hauled stones and sticks at them while passing by in their vehicles.
But, IPOB had accused the army of attacking its members at their leader’s residence, killing five people – a claim the army has refuted and called fake news.
Reports on Tuesday also indicated that some army officers invaded the Abia State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Aba Road, Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
The soldiers were reported to have attacked a national leader in the office, destroyed laptops and other valuables.
Journalists at the secretariat said the soldiers claimed they saw somebody taking photographs of them from the building.

“Our stand is that those involved in this attack on innocent Journalists should be fished out and punished in line with the Constitution of the Country,” Emejor said.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 14 Brigade, Major Oyegoke Gbadamosi also confirmed the incident.
Gbadamosi said he had asked the chairman of the Council to send the photograph of the damaged office to him.
