In the other match played, France came from one goal behind to beat Panama 6-3 topping the group with seven points as Jamaica trailed by five points.

Brazil needed a win to scale to the next round but we’re forced to a goalless draw failing to qualify for the knockout phase for the first time in only their second Women’s World Cup.

It is also their earliest exit since 1995 while the point saw the Reggae Girlz finish second behind France.

The other teams who have been sent packing from the tournament include co-hosts New Zealand, the Philippines, Olympic champions Canada, The Republic of Ireland and Zambia.

Others are Costa Rica, China, Haiti, Portugal, Vietnam, Panama, Italy, Argentina and South Korea.
