NAHCON inaugurates assessment, award committee for 2023 Hajj operations

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has inaugurated the Assessment and Award Committee to evaluate this year’s Hajj operation, with the aim of rewarding excellence and hard work.

The committee is headed by Malam Suleiman Usman, the former Director of Planning, Research, Statistics, Information, and Library Services (PRSILS) of the commission. It consists of former executive secretaries of State Pilgrim Welfare boards.

During the inauguration ceremony held in Abuja, NAHCON Chairman Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan urged the committee to ensure transparency, fairness, and justice in their duties.

He acknowledged that it is impossible to satisfy everyone but encouraged them to do their best. He assured the committee of the commission’s support and requested Allah’s guidance for their work.

The commissioners in charge of operations and licensing, Alhaji Abdullahi Magaji Hardawa, and personnel management and finance, Alhaji Nura Hassan Yakassai, emphasized the need for the committee to enhance the assessment criteria to meet international standards and practices.

According to a statement from NAHCON’s Deputy Director of Information and Publication, Mousa Ubandawaki, the award committee is an innovative approach to improve service delivery to pilgrims and motivate the state boards to excel.

Malam Suleiman Usman, on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude for the appointment and assured the management that they would not disappoint. He acknowledged the opportunity to contribute their expertise.

Comprised of seasoned professionals and Hajj Managers, the committee will play a crucial role in evaluating and acknowledging outstanding achievements in the planning and execution of the 2023 Hajj operations.

Furthermore, the assessment and award committee will serve as a driving force to recognize and encourage excellence, efficiency, and innovation within the Hajj industry by honouring individuals and organizations that surpass expectations in delivering exceptional services.
