YSCHMA meets to develop 2024 operational plan in line with Yobe’s budget cycle

The Yobe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA) has revealed plans to use its week-long meeting to develop the 2024 Annual Operational Plan, in line with the state’s budget cycle.

The agency will collaborate with representatives from the state Ministry of Justice and NHIA to identify any gaps in the existing YSCHMA laws, in order to work towards possible legislation to comply with the NHIA Act of 2022.

This was revealed in an update provided on August 16, 2023, by YSCHMA during the recently conducted review of the first and second quarter performance for 2023.

YSCHMA, in collaboration with the FCDO-funded Lafiya Project and technical support from the Centre for Health Economics and Development (CHECOD), said the purpose of the review was to assess the current implementation of activities, focusing on performance-based measures, quality of service improvement, expanding coverage (UHC), and enhancing best management practices.

After a thorough evaluation using the performance tool, the agency achieved an impressive score of 64% for its first and second quarter activities in 2023.

Chaired by the Executive Secretary of YSCHMA, Dr. Babagana Tijjani, the meeting includes the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics from the State Ministry of Health, the State NHIA Coordinator, representatives from the Lafiya Project, CHECOD consultants, and the YSCHMA team.
