Court jails man 30-years for burning partner alive
A French court has handed down a 30-year prison sentence to Jonathan Boillet, 36, for the horrific act of burning his partner, 33-year-old Sandy Cucheval, alive in November 2020. The sentencing took place on Friday at a criminal court in northern France.
Boillet, who had been on trial since Tuesday, initially denied the murder, attributing Cucheval’s death to an accident. However, on Thursday, he confessed, admitting, “It was me who doused her in petrol.”
The tragic incident occurred inside a car they were traveling in, turning Cucheval into a “human torch.” She was rushed to the burn unit at a Lille hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries a week later.
The regional criminal court in Saint-Omer imposed a 30-year prison term on Boillet, mandating a minimum of 20 years without parole.

Additionally, he is required to undergo treatment for his alcohol and drug addictions. Cucheval, a mother of four, had been in a relationship with Boillet for several months but sought to leave him.
Boillet’s troubled background revealed a history of abuse, with a traumatic incident at the age of eight and subsequent struggles with alcohol and drugs from the age of 11.
His criminal record included four convictions for domestic violence, reflecting a pattern of violent behavior.
