NAPPS Potiskum celebrates private schools day with awards, competitions (Pictures and Videos)

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Potiskum Local Government chapter, celebrated Private Schools Day on October 12 with a vibrant and well-attended event at the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Potiskum. The occasion brought together various private schools in the region, including the esteemed Hafsatu Ahmed Gimba Memorial School, to recognize and honour the contributions of private education to society.

The celebration featured a variety of activities that highlighted the students’ and schools’ talents. A marching parade, a competitive Spelling Bee, exhilarating sports activities, and a distinguished awards ceremony were among the day’s main events. The Spelling Bee allowed students to demonstrate their vocabulary skills and poise, while the sports events fostered camaraderie and showcased the athletic abilities of participating students.

Malam Mohammed Sambo Adamu, President of the NAPPS Potiskum chapter, explained that the annual event on October 12 is dedicated to celebrating the vital role private schools play in education. “We organized this event to ensure our students’ minds are refreshed and encouraged to strive for excellence,” Adamu stated, emphasizing that the day’s activities aim to inspire students to pursue their academic goals with renewed energy.

Adamu also noted the importance of recognising those who make significant contributions to private education. The event honoured proprietors, teachers, and various stakeholders who are devoted to providing high-quality education in the region. Awards were presented to individuals for their remarkable contributions to educational development in Yobe State. Some of the honorees included Mairo Amshi, the Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management; Dr. Dauda Atiyaye, the Executive Secretary of the Science Technical Board; and Sulaiman Ajiya Alkali. Each of these awardees was celebrated for their dedication, innovation, and ongoing commitment to enhancing education.

The celebration provided an opportunity for the Potiskum community to recognize the role of private schools in fostering educational growth, nurturing talent, and contributing to societal development. Through events like Private Schools Day, NAPPS continues to encourage academic excellence and community involvement in education.
