Ministry of Information defends 2025 budget proposal before State Assembly, lists achievements
The Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security has defended its 2025 budget proposal before the State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information and Internal Security.
The session, held on December 17, 2024, at the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA) complex in Maiduguri, was presided over by the Committee Chairman, Honourable Bukar Modu, representingthe Konduga Constituency.
Other committee members present included Engineer Gambomi Marte and Honourable Yakubu Kimba, representing the Marte and Biu constituencies, respectively.
The Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, led the ministerial delegation highlighting the Ministry’s achievements over the past year, which include the rehabilitation of the Government Printing Press, procurement of vehicles for security operations, support for community resettlement, and the recruitment of more Civilian Joint Task Force personnel.
He also noted the Ministry’s key role in the Kanem Borno Summit and the Sir Ahmadu Bello Lecture earlier this year.
For 2025, the Ministry proposed ambitious projects, including the construction of fire service stations across all 27 local government areas, a central command and control centre, new military barracks, and a Borno State Cultural Centre.
Additionally, plans for museum construction, historical site development, and the reconstruction of BRTV Maiduguri were highlighted.

The Committee commended the Ministry’s efforts in cultural promotion, including its recent successes at the National Festival of Arts and Culture, which boosted the state’s cultural reputation and aligned with Governor Zulum’s vision of rebuilding Borno.
The Committee pledged full support for the proposed budget to help the Ministry achieve its objectives.
In attendance were top Ministry officials, including the Permanent Secretary, Modu Alhaji Mustapha, and directors from various departments and parastatals.
