300,000 police force not enough to secure Nigerians – Brig-Gen Aderibigbe

Osun State Chairman, Governing Amotekun Board, Brig-Gen Isa Aderibigbe, has complained about the number of Police officers in Nigeria, not enough to secure the entire country.

Gen Aderibigbe disclosed this during the maiden edition of Osun Union of Journalists platform themed, “Appraisal of State of Security in Nigeria, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow; The Way Forward,” in Osogbo on Wednesday.

“300,000 policemen are not enough for the population of over 200 million people,” he said, insisting that more police personnel be hired and trained to boost the country’s security network.

“The local government should also be given autonomy, as the local government chairman is the governor of the people at the grassroots level.

“They should be given the freedom to appoint and employ people at their locality, as this will eradicate the level of unemployment in the society,” he said.

Gen Aderibigbe further added that more security agencies be assigned to land borders and adequately equipped to fight insecurity in the state.
