60-year-old man drowns in abandoned Kano well

A 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku has been confirmed dead, after reportedly falling and drowning in a well.

The incident occurred in the CBN Quarters on Hadejia Road, in Kano state.

The victim was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defence, and had stepped out to urinate himself but unaware to him, the area was littered with debris, and he accidentally fell into the well.

Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and reported that emergency responders arrived within 15 minutes following a distress call.

“Unfortunately, the victim who was rescued unconscious was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Sir Sunusi Hospital.”

“The body was subsequently handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation,” he said.
