7 dead in Nasarawa village attack as police launch investigation

A gunmen attack in Tatara village, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has left seven people dead, plunging the community into grief.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, as confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed the details to Channels Television.

According to SP Nansel, the police received a distress call about the attack and promptly responded. The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, led a team of operatives to the scene, where seven lifeless bodies were discovered.

The assailants were pursued, leading to the recovery of nine abandoned motorcycles.

In a swift response to the tragedy, CP Mohammed convened a stakeholders’ meeting to address the situation. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

To restore calm, additional police operatives have been deployed to Tatara village to ensure the safety of residents.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, is expected to visit the affected community as part of efforts to address the situation and provide support to the grieving families.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
