Barrister Mohammad Kana, brothers abducted last year in Askira released

Barrister Mohammad Kana and his brothers, Imrana Askira, Babayo Askira and Bello Sarkin Fulanin Askira that were abducted on November 5 last year were released on Wednesday to the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri.

After their kidnap, the bandits demanded N360 million or its equivalent in dollars. The sum of 80 million was gathered for them but they refused to collect it. Borno State Government insisted from the beginning that he will never pay ransom to bandits because his job is to fight them not to enrich them, but sometimes ago, officials close to his office sent 500,000 each to the wives of the victims for feeding.

Last two weeks, the wives of the victims who are staying in Maiduguri, Abuja and Kaduna respectively collected 30,000 each for fasting from agents of the Borno State Government.

As at the time of filing this report, the victims were undergoing medical checkups in Maiduguri.

One dubious senior citizen from the Askira area collected the sum of 20 million naira from the office of Borno State Deputy Governor. The deputy governor of Borno State is the younger brother of the late Emir of Askira’s first wife, and two of the victims are his sister’s children, but the 20 million naira was pocketed by this wicked citizen.
