Relief, agony in Kwara as abducted prince regains freedom, father held by kidnappers

There was mixed emotion in Kwara State after a kidnapped prince was released by his abductors following the payment of a ₦20 million ransom, while his father remains in captivity.

Sources disclosed that the victim, a member of a royal family in the state, regained freedom after days in the kidnappers’ den. However, his father, who was abducted alongside him, was not released, deepening fears and anxiety within the family and the wider community.

The abduction reportedly occurred when gunmen attacked the victims along a highway, forcing them into the forest. Negotiations for their release were said to have dragged on for days before the kidnappers agreed to free the prince after receiving the ransom.

Residents described the development as both a relief and a source of renewed worry, as attention now shifts to the fate of the father still being held. Community leaders have appealed to the abductors to show mercy and release him unharmed.
