Africa CDC investigates mysterious disease outbreak
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has launched an investigation into a mysterious disease outbreak in Burundi, following reports of multiple deaths and infections.
Health authorities disclosed that the illness has so far claimed several lives and affected dozens of people, with cases initially detected in local communities.
According to officials, symptoms observed among patients include fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, headaches, and dark urine, while severe cases have presented complications such as anemia and breathing difficulties.
Preliminary laboratory tests have ruled out major hemorrhagic diseases, including Ebola and Marburg, leaving the exact cause of the outbreak unknown.
The Africa CDC, in collaboration with local and international health partners, is currently conducting further investigations to identify the source and nature of the illness.
Surveillance and response measures have been intensified to contain the spread, while health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
