Man bags 45 years imprisonment in Jigawa for abduction

Justice Ahmad Muhammad Abubakar of the Jigawa State High Court has sentenced 40-year-old Musa Kwalle of Jajeri village in Maigatari Local Government Area (LGA) to 45 years impresonment for abduction, conspiracy and in possession of fire arms.

Delivering the judgment on Thursday, June 16, 2022, Justice Abubakar stated that the convict conspired with one Abdullahi Garba to abduct a 20-year-old Zahira Abdullahi of Kashin-Dila village in Malam-madori LGA.

The Court heard three prosecution witnesses and received eighteen exhibits which convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt that the convict committed the offence.

In a related development, a High Court sitting in Birnin-Kudu presided by Justice Musa Ubale also sentenced 30-year-old Zubairu Idris to death by hanging for culpable homicide.

The prosecution counsel had told the court that the convict, a native of Bajji village in Birnin kudu LGA in Jigawa had in October 11, 2017 stabbed one Abubakar Abubakar with a knife which led to his death.

In his judgment, Justice Musa Ubale said the court heard three witnesses and received four exhibits and was convinced that the defendant committed culpable homicide contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code law.
