Brother shoots brother dead while testing charm potency in Kwara

One Abubakar Abubakar, on Sunday, shot his 12-year-old younger brother, Yusuf Abubakar to death in Kwara State.

The incident happened in the Dutse Dogo Kaiama local government area of the state while the duo were allegedly testing the efficacy of a gunshot protective charm they newly acquired.

The late Yusuf and Abubakar are sons of the same father.

The name of their father is also Abubakar Abubakar, a hunter in the community.

Narrating the story, the Kwara State Police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident said: “After they had fortified themselves with the ‘protective’ charm, but the elder son brought his father’s dane gun and shot his younger sibling, but the charm failed and the 12-year-old Yusuf Abubakar died on the spot.

“The culprit escaped into the bush immediately after the act was committed.

“Investigation into the matter has commenced as directed by the commissioner of police.

“Parents and guidances are advised to monitor the activities of their children and avoid doing certain unsavoury activities while their children and wards watch, to prevent incidents of this nature.”
