Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, becomes chancellor of UNIMAID
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the Emir of Lafia, His Highness Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed 1, as the Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Borno State.
This was contained in an appointment letter signed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and obtained by Neptune Prime.
Congratulating Justice Sidi Bage on the appointment, the letter listed some of the key roles of the Chancellor as the most important official of the institution.
“The Chancellor shall, in relation to the university, take precedence before all other members of the university and when he is present, shall preside at all meetings of convocation held for conferring degrees.
“This clearly means that the Chancellor, as the most important official in the university system, is the symbol and spirit of the institution, a moral compass giving shape and direction to the university administration,” the letter reads in part.
His Highness Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed 1, a Justice of the Supreme Court emerged as the 17th Emir of Lafia Emirate following the demise of Alhaji Mustapha Agwai I on Jan. 10 2019.
