Nigerian Army vows to punish soldiers involved in brutal assault on civilians at Kaduna hotel

The Nigerian Army has pledged to take action against soldiers who were captured on camera brutally assaulting civilians inside gutters at 2Season Hotel and Resort in Kaduna State.
According to reports, the hotel staff, who are civilians, demanded their wages after cleaning the premises. However, the hotel manager summoned soldiers to attack them.
The soldiers subjected the workers to humiliation, forcing them into a gutter, confiscating their phones, and issuing threats of grave physical harm.
In response to the incident, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, issued a statement on Sunday condemning the soldiers’ behaviour.
He described it as a violation of the principles and values of professionalism, courage, selflessness, and service to humanity that the Nigerian Army represents.
Nwachukwu stated that the Nigerian Army has promptly ordered an investigation into the video footage to verify its authenticity and identify those responsible.
He said, “The Nigerian Army has become aware of a provocative and unacceptable video circulating on social media. The footage shows individuals dressed in military camouflage mistreating civilians. The incident, reportedly occurring at 2Season Hotel and Resorts in Kaduna, goes against the principles and values of professionalism, courage, selflessness, and service to humanity that the Nigerian Army upholds.
“As a disciplined and dedicated force committed to upholding the constitution, defending the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as supporting civil authorities, the Nigerian Army has zero tolerance for any action that violates the rights and well-being of the citizens.
“Therefore, the Nigerian Army has initiated an immediate investigation into the video footage to determine its authenticity and identify the individuals responsible.
“If it is discovered that those involved are indeed personnel of the Nigerian Army, appropriate actions and sanctions in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Armed Forces Acts will be taken against them.
“We appreciate the continued support of the general public and urge all law-abiding citizens to carry out their legitimate activities without fear of harassment or intimidation from any quarter. Any misconduct by troops should be reported to the Nigerian Army Human Rights Desks at the Nigerian Army Headquarters or Division Headquarters.”
