NCDMB takes local content devt to new heights with ICT-equipped industrial park
The Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has equipped its first oil and gas industrial park in Odukpani, Cross River State, with state-of-the-art Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) facilities to enhance adaptability.
During a media tour of the park in Odukpani, Cross River State, Engr. Ginah O. Ginah, the General Manager of the Corporate Communication and Zonal Coordination Division at NCDMB, disclosed that all necessary facilities for investors to thrive in the park environment, particularly manufacturers, have been provided.
These facilities include state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure, a clinic, a manufacturing hall, security services, well-maintained roads, uninterrupted 24-hour power supply, a banking hall, a fire service station, a water treatment plant, mini accommodation parks, and free land for investors who wish to construct their own structures.

Ginah emphasized the NCDMB’s commitment to opening this business opportunity, as the board was established 10 years ago.
He declared that the park is now ready for habitation and has invited potential manufacturers to apply and meet the set criteria for a place in the oil and gas industrial park.
“We have already advertised for interested manufacturers and are currently reviewing applications to determine eligibility,” he stated.
Ginah explained that the aforementioned facilities available at the Odukpani Industrial Park, which spans 25 hectares of land, help reduce production costs.
“Therefore, this park will significantly reduce the cost of production,” Engr. Ginah said.
Moreover, he revealed that the Federal Government has recently pledged $50 million (approximately N23,125,000,000.00 billion) to attract companies to the parks.
Additionally, Engr. Ginah disclosed that several similar parks are currently under construction across the Niger Delta, specifically in Imo, Delta, and Ondo States.
These endeavors are part of the NCDMB’s initiatives to substantially increase local content in the oil and gas industry and promote Nigeria’s industrialization.
“We have increased Nigeria’s local content level from 5% to 55%. The industry spends approximately $20 billion per year, resulting in annual savings of about $10 billion,” he said.
Ginah stated that the NCDMB’s goal is to raise the local content in the industry to 70 percent by 2027.
The board believes that the best way to achieve this objective is by ensuring local manufacturing of components, which is why these parks are being developed.
