The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, has launched a renewed effort to strengthen the organization’s corporate social responsibility programs. This initiative aims to give back to the society that has supported the NCS in fulfilling its core mandates.

On Monday, August 14th, the Ag.CG extended a helping hand to Dorian Home in Akure, Ondo State. Dorian Home is an orphanage dedicated to charity and social development. Explaining the rationale behind this initiative, the Acting CG emphasized the service’s responsibility to support and assist the communities in which they operate.

Recognizing the infrastructure, commitment, and passion of Dorian Home, the Acting CG stated, “We’ve seen that this place has the capacity for almost a thousand children. They need to be fed, clothed, and provided with medicines. Therefore, periodically, we will be looking into our stores and providing items that can assist them in achieving their objectives.”

Continuing his visit to zone ‘A’, the Customs Boss also visited the Ondo/Ekiti Area Command. During his visit, he commissioned and inspected newly renovated residential accommodations for officers and personnel of the command. Addressing the officers and personnel, the Acting CG emphasized the need for diligence in operations and proper documentation to ensure that export products meet international standards.

“You have a role in ensuring that the products shipped out of this place meet international standards,” he remarked. “Be diligent, avoid any delays in the processes, complete documentation in a timely manner, and prevent the products from spoiling before they are shipped out of the country.”

Furthermore, the Ag.CG of NCS paid a visit to the palace of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Alade Toyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi CFR, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure. During the visit, he pledged his loyalty and commitment to the NCS, affirming their responsible role as a government agency.

“Customs will continue to be a responsible government agency, respecting the laws of the land and maintaining good relationships wherever we operate,” he assured. The paramount ruler expressed gratitude for the Ag. CGC’s visit and offered prayers for a successful tenure.
