Kano election tribunal chairman exposes bribery attempts by SAN
Story from Yahya Shawai, Kano
Justice Flora Azinge, the chair of the Kano State National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, has brought to light an attempted bribery by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The incident was disclosed during court proceedings on Tuesday, causing outrage and exposing the unethical conduct of senior lawyers.
Though the identity of the involved senior lawyer was not revealed, Justice Azinge made it clear that the SAN in question had a pending case before the tribunal. Expressing her dismay, she spoke openly about the flow of money into the tribunal and vehemently denounced the practice of attempting to bribe judges.

In her statement to the court, Justice Azinge emphasized, “Whoever accepts money on my behalf, God will punish that person and their descendants up to the fourth generation.” She also addressed the ongoing criticism and accusations of corruption faced by judges, asserting her contentment with what she has and affirming her commitment to uphold justice.
Eyitayo Fatogun, SAN, who happened to be present in court for an unrelated matter, stood up on behalf of all the lawyers present.
He urged the judge to report the attempted bribery to the appropriate authorities, citing instances where judges who failed to do so were held accountable for judicial misconduct.
This shocking revelation raises concerns about the integrity of the tribunal and the ethical conduct of senior lawyers.
