Controversial ‘baddest lawyer’ Ifunanya Grant dares NBA in bold standoff

In a bold display of defiance, the self-proclaimed ‘baddest lawyer,’ Ifunanya Excel Grant, has dared the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to do its worst, confidently declaring that she will emerge victorious against the association.

Grant, a young lawyer, recently gained notoriety for her provocative pictures and videos on social media, which caught the attention of the NBA. The association has since filed petitions against her with the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC).

The complaints against Grant mainly revolve around her explicit social media presence, including unclothed images and the consumption of marijuana, according to the NBA.

Grant, however, responded to the NBA’s actions with unwavering determination, comparing herself to the biblical figure of David facing Goliath. In a social media exchange, she confidently stated, “Tell them say David k!||Ed Goliath.”

Further expressing her unbothered attitude towards the petition, Grant posted on Facebook, “Before I can light up my Igbo (Indian hemp), do you have any advice for me? Note: Tell those people wey dey find me say I’m unavailable.”

Engaging with her followers on Twitter, Grant dismissed the notion that the NBA’s actions would lead to her trial and imprisonment, proclaiming, “abégi shift”. When warned of potential consequences by a follower, she boldly responded, “Then prepare to join me.”

When asked if she studied law with the intention of frustrating the legal system, Grant defiantly replied, “If INEC can declare Tinubu president, why not?”

In an earlier post, Grant tantalizingly wrote, “Them go feel it,” accompanied by a sweating emoji, indicating her determination to make the lawyers’ association sweat.

While some lawyers criticized her actions for allegedly bringing the profession into disrepute, a small contingent argued that the petition against Grant was misconceived, highlighting that she is not actively practicing law.

As Grant takes on the NBA head-on, her unyielding confidence is set to make waves in the legal community, leaving uncertainty about the outcome of this audacious battle.
