Senator Bello asks Niger State gov’t to stop his pension as former governor

Former Governor and Senator representing Niger North, Abubakar Sani Bello, has written to the Niger State Government requesting to suspend his pension and other allowances as enjoyed by former governors of the state.

In a letter dated 6th September, 2023 and addressed to the governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru Bago, Bello indicated that he took this decision to uphold ethics and morality.

Sani Bello explained that he could not enjoy his pension and allowances while he earns a salary as a senator. He wrote, “I write to request for the suspension of my pension and allowances from the government of Niger State for the duration of my service as senator.

“Your Excellency may recall that I was inaugurated as the senator representing Niger North in the 10th Senate on 13th June, 2023.”
