Atiku appeals to Supreme Court, challenges presidential election judgment

Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken his case to the Supreme Court. Atiku is appealing the decision of the Presidential Election Petitions Court, which affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the rightful winner of the 2023 elections. Atiku’s appeal aims to have the judgment nullified, as he contests the legitimacy of the previous ruling.

Neptune prime reports that in the notice, Atiku has lodged an appeal based on 35 grounds, claiming that the tribunal made a significant mistake and miscarriage of justice in its verdict. Atiku’s appeal challenges the declaration of Tinubu as President by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Abubakar Atiku has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, claiming that the tribunal committed a legal error by failing to invalidate the presidential election held on February 25, 2023.

He argues that the election was conducted in non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022, as evidenced by INEC’s grave and gross misrepresentation, which goes against the principles of the Electoral Act 2022 and the doctrine of legitimate expectation.

Atiku is seeking the Supreme Court’s intervention to rectify the alleged error in the earlier verdict.
