According to Ikenga, “The Men of Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu, Anambra State, received a tip-off from a vigilant member of the public who observed two gunmen on a motorcycle along the road. The operatives swiftly pursued the gang and encountered them in a position to rob motorists.”
When the robbers spotted the approaching operatives, they attempted to engage them in a shootout. However, the alert and battle-ready officers quickly overpowered them, causing the gunmen to abandon their weapons and flee into the nearby bushy area.
The operatives conducted a thorough search of the bush and successfully recovered two AK-47 Rifles, along with a substantial amount of ammunition and expended rounds.
Ikenga also mentioned that the Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, praised the team for their bravery and urged them to intensify proactive operations in that particular part of the state until all criminal elements tormenting the citizens are completely eradicated. This successful operation serves as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the Anambra police force in maintaining law and order within the community.
