Ogun State mother dumps newborn baby by roadside
Residents in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State were left in shock on Sunday when they uncovered the decomposing body of a newborn baby in their neighborhood.
The mother, identified as 21-year-old Esther Ojuko, allegedly wrapped the baby girl in a sack and discarded her in a nearby compound.
The state police command has indicated that the mother, Esther Ojuko, may have been mentally unwell at the time of the incident.
It was reported that the discovery was made when residents began investigating a strong stench in the area, which led to the distressing finding of the tightly wrapped decomposing newborn in a sack.
Following the distressing discovery, one of the residents, identified as Ogunmuyiwa, reported the incident to the Sango-Ota Police Division.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest of the mother and stated that an investigation into the circumstances is underway. The deceased baby has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
