Man in Enugu State kills mother, sister, buries them in shallow grave
The Enugu State Police Command has apprehended a young man from Igboariam, Anambra State, Somadina Orji, over the alleged murder of his mother, Charity Orji, and his sister, Ukamaka Orji.
The horrific incident took place on December 4, 2023, at Umuagu Inyi in Oji River Local Council of Enugu State, where the victims were found buried in a shallow grave.

The mother, Charity Orji, who hailed from Inyi but married in Igboariam, had been residing in her family home with her children for some time.
It was gathered that the suspect was involved in a dangerous drug trade and had been having misunderstandings with his mother before the tragic events.
Investigation revealed that the younger sister had been missing for two weeks preceding the altercation with his mother.
On the day of the unfortunate incident, the mother had returned from a condolence visit at Akpugoeze and was met with a violent fate at the hands of her son, who then buried her in the backyard.
Speaking on the incident, a community leader in the area said, “Upon returning home and realising that his mother was nowhere to be found, the younger brother sensed that something was amiss and raised an alarm about her disappearance.
The Enugu State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, while also mentioning that investigations are ongoing.
He said once the investigation is concluded, the suspect will be brought to court to face the appropriate legal repercussions for his alleged actions.
