Kaduna Assembly proposes legal action against El-Rufai
The Kaduna State House of Assembly has taken a significant step by recommending the prosecution of the immediate-past governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for alleged abuse of office and money laundering during his administration.
The decision follows an in-depth investigation carried out by the ad-hoc committee, led by Henry Zacharia, on behalf of the House.
Based on the report presented by Zacharia on Wednesday, it was revealed that a large portion of the loans taken during El-Rufai’s time in office were misappropriated and not used for their designated purposes.

Furthermore, numerous instances were discovered where due process was not followed in the acquisition of these loans.
Consequently, the committee has urged security and anti-corruption agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the former governor and other implicated members of his cabinet.
The charges include abuse of office through unauthorised contract awards, misappropriation of public funds, and involvement in money laundering activities.
