FIDA Yobe visits Commissioner of Police to seek justice for woman murdered at home

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Yobe State branch, has visited the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmad, to demand justice and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of late Ammi Mamman.

The FIDA delegation led by its Chairperson, Barrister Hannatu Farouk Jauro, visited CP Ahmad on 17th January 2024 at Police Headquarters, Damaturu to follow up the investigations on late Ammi Mamman’s case.

On January 4, 2024, late Ammi Adamu was brutally killed in her sleep at her New Bra-Bara Estate residence.

Her husband, Abubakar Musa, is being investigated as a suspect in the crime.

Both the victim and her husband held positions at the Yobe State University.

Speaking to the delegation, CP Ahmad assured the female lawyers that investigations have commenced into the murder of Ammi Mamman.

He assured that the police will leave no stone unturned till justice is served for the murdered woman.

Public outcry has trailed the gruesome murder of Mrs Mamman in Yobe State.

Call for justice from civil society groups, legal experts, human rights advocates, and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, have heightened in the last few days.

According to eyewitness reports, Ammi Adamu was stabbed in the neck while sharing her bed with her husband, Abubakar Musa.

The husband has since been taken into police custody as the primary suspect in the heinous crime.

Members of FIDA in attendance include  Barrister Hannatu Farouk Jauro,  Chairperson; Barrister Fatima M. Auwal, Welfare Secretary; Bintu Musa, Treasurer; Barrister Kaltume Aliyu, member and Hajja Maryam Ibrahim, member.

Others are Sa’adatu Muhammad Barka, member; Zara M. Maina, member; Hadiza Nasidi Geidam, member; Aisha Sardauna, member; Hajara Garba Umar, member and Barrister Hadiza Gudube, member.
