FG approves $21 million project to install metres in Niger Delta crude oil flow stations

The Federal Government has greenlit a $21 million initiative to install metres across 187 crude oil flow stations in the Niger Delta region.

This decision, announced by Minister of Petroleum Resources Heineken Lokpobiri during a press briefing in Abuja, aims to enhance transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s crude oil production through digital platforms.

Lokpobiri emphasized that the project includes tracking crude oil vessels from their origin in the Niger Delta to their global destinations, ensuring comprehensive oversight of the country’s oil exports.

“The approval by the Federal Executive Council includes metering all our production from the 187 flow stations across the Niger Delta, a critical step towards accurate production and export accounting,” Lokpobiri stated.

He highlighted that the project is scheduled for completion within six months, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s oil sector regulation.
