FG writes Interpol to arrest 3 Nigerians who forged Buhari’s signature to steal $6.23 million from CBN
The Presidency has requested the Interpol National Central Bureau to issue a Red Notice for a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) employee and two others involved in an alleged conspiracy to steal $6.23 million from the CBN by forging documents in the name of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Documents obtained on Tuesday revealed that Odoh Eric Ocheme, a CBN staff member, along with Adamu Abubakar and Imam Abubakar, are on the list sent to Interpol for their involvement in the fraudulent scheme.
The request for their arrest was made by the Special Investigator appointed by President Bola Tinubu to probe the CBN and related entities.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of the three individuals, with a deadline of May 7, 2024, for them to be brought before the court.

The Interpol is tasked with capturing and returning the suspects, who are currently evading authorities, from any Interpol member state where they may be located.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, testified in an Abuja High Court on Tuesday, stating that former President Buhari’s signature was forged to withdraw the $6.23 million from the CBN.
Mustapha disclaimed any knowledge of the money being used to pay foreign observers for the 2023 general elections, asserting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was responsible for such matters.
An official from the CBN confirmed on Monday that the funds were disbursed in cash to an SGF office representative following approvals by former President Buhari and then-CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele.
