Zelensky declares determination to triumph as Ukraine marks 3rd year of war
In a resolute statement during a war anniversary ceremony, President Volodymyr Zelensky affirmed on Saturday that Ukraine would emerge victorious as the conflict entered its third year.
“We have been fighting for this for 730 days of our lives. We will win on the greatest day of our lives,” emphasized Zelensky at an open-air event in Kyiv.
“Any normal person wants the war to end. But none of us will allow Ukraine to end,” he asserted, emphasizing the importance of concluding the war on Ukraine’s terms and achieving a “just” peace.
Zelensky addressed the audience alongside the Canadian, Italian, and Belgian prime ministers, as well as EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, all gathered in Kyiv to commemorate two years since Russia’s invasion.
During a ceremony at Kyiv’s Gostomel airport, a target in the initial days of Russia’s invasion, Zelensky embraced the leaders and presented medals to soldiers. Reflecting on the location, he stated, “Two years ago, we met the enemy landing force here with fire; two years later, we meet our friends and partners here.”
