Police arrest man for attempting suicide over hardship

A young man has been arrested after he climbed a 33kV high tension pole in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area of Adamawa State to demand the resignation of President Bola Tinubu.

According to reports, the incident occurred along the Yola-Jalingo highway on a market day.

Local residents and police engaged in negotiations to convince the man to descend, which he finally did on 28th September at midnight.

The spokesperson for the Adamawa State Police Command, SP Suleiman Nguruje, confirmed the arrest, stating that the man is currently in protective custody of the Criminal Investigating Department.

He is set to be paraded before the public on Monday for attempting suicide.
