Venezuela urges formation of ‘world front’ against Israeli actions
The Venezuelan government has called for the establishment of a “world front” to confront what it describes as Israeli terrorism and barbarism. Yvan Gil, Venezuela’s foreign minister, made this appeal during a meeting in Caracas with diplomats from Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Kuwait, Algeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar, and Sudan.
In his remarks, Gil emphasized the need for a united international effort to condemn Israeli actions and to mobilize resources to counter what he termed “the regime that will only be stopped by international mobilisation.” He described Israel’s conduct in Gaza and Lebanon as comparable to Nazi aggression, stating, “The fascist regime has already embarked on a phase of extermination of all the Muslim population,” and criticized the use of advanced weaponry against civilian areas.
Gil condemned the international community, particularly the U.S. and the European Union, for their perceived complicity and silence regarding Israeli military actions. He declared, “Humanity cannot tolerate one more death and one more bomb falling on the heads of Palestinian girls and women.”
Furthermore, he described Israel’s military campaign in the region as the most significant assault on humanity since World War II, characterizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a new Hitler. Gil denounced Netanyahu’s recent threats at the United Nations as destabilising and indicative of a broader aggressive strategy.

The Venezuelan foreign minister reaffirmed his country’s solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon, asserting that Venezuela would actively support anti-Israel and anti-U.S. initiatives in the region. “Venezuela will continue to support and raise its voice in defense of the Arab peoples and their struggle for self-determination,” he stated.
Venezuela’s stance comes amid ongoing violence in Gaza, where over 41,780 Palestinians have reportedly been killed since early October 2023, primarily affecting women and children. This violence has sparked retaliatory actions from various resistance groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, as well as recent missile attacks from Iran.
Iran has recently conducted significant military operations in response to perceived threats from Israel, including firing approximately 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli targets during a military operation dubbed Operation True Promise II. This escalation follows the assassinations of key Palestinian and Hezbollah leaders attributed to Israeli actions.
