PDP clears 10 LGs in Plateau poll
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) achieved a sweeping victory in Plateau State, winning 15 local government chairmanship positions in the recent elections, according to the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission.
The Chief Returning Officer and Chairman of the State Electoral Commission, Daniel Cishak, announced the results at the Local Government Collation Centre in Jos.
He declared PDP candidates as winners in 15 of the 17 local government areas where elections were held.
The victorious councils include Barkin Ladi, Mikang, Shendam, Bassa, Riyom, Jos South, Jos East, Kanam, Qua’an Pan, Langtang South, Jos North, Mangu, Wase, Bokkos, and Kanke. However, results from Pankshin and Langtang North have yet to be announced.

Following the declaration, the PLASIEC Chairman presented certificates of return to the elected chairmen. The PDP’s dominance extended to the councillorship elections, where it won 222 seats. In comparison, the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 14 seats, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) won one seat.
The local government elections saw participation from 11 political parties across Plateau’s 17 local government areas, where voters selected chairmen and councillors to manage council affairs for the next two years.
